Philippine Nike

Nike shoe with Philippine tricolors

This Nike Air Force 1 Low Insideout Priority 314770 looks pretty cool, huh? Once I saw it on Francis Magalona’s blog, I told myself I should have a pair of these. I went and searched the internet for it but everywhere I looked, it was out of stock.

Then, I realized, hey, this just Nike’s way of exploiting patriotic tendencies in some of us. Why should I reward Nike with my precious purchasing power for using our tricolors in some of their shoes? I am reminded that the money I might spend for this will go out of the country. I better just wait for some local shoemaker to do something similar.

It’s really cute. And yes, you have a point – it’s a feasible and clever business strategy. Points to Nike for that.

But then, wearing your country’s colors on your feet doesn’t seem too respectful… to me it kinda deviates from the law which forbids people from wearing the flag (if such law does exist).

And yes, it’ll be good if you’d just wait for a local version. Seeing Filipino nature, there’ll be one soon. Points to Bikoy for that. :D

That’s very ironic hu? You’re showing patriotism if you would wear those shoes yet you’re patronizing other country’s products. Yeah, buying those shoes is cool in one way or another, you can show your patriotism but then, as what you had said, the money that you might spend for that will go out of the country. And this time, I think it’s better if we will buy “pirated copies” of these shoes… lol. Gawang Pinoy na nun… hehe… joke

  3. Pinoy Stupid says:

I think pirated copies are mostly made in China. Hmm, design? Not cool. Looks j-ish.

(meron ba nun even?)

Am I the only person who thinks that the colors are not pretty? Okay, sige, kulay yan ng ating flag, but it’s the flag not shoes, and shoes have to be at least, stylish. :\

And I agree about what Mark said (as far as I know there’s a law about it, but I don’t have the means to confirm it right now). Wearing those shoes is like wearing the country’s flag as a footwear. Besides, there are other ways to show our love and respect to our country than just buying those shoes. :P

  6. When this pair of shoes gets hot, we’ll probably see a lot of them in Greenhills.

I agree with Pinoy Stupid, the design isn’t cool. It looks like a China-made Nike. Nike=child labor. For every pair they make, poor children only receive 3-5 pesos while Nike earns billions and billions because people continue buying their thousand-worth shoes. :( Blah. :)

I don’t like the color combi. I don’t like. I don’t like. It’s like a commoner purchase in the outskirts of banquetalandia. It’s Philippine, but I don’t really like it.

Isn’t it self-violating to wear something resembling our flag?

(Long time no visit here ^_^)

  8. Richmond says:

But I do like it, no matter what.

  9. Richmond says:

NO, It isn’t the color (the color do stink)… But it’s the flag, OUR FLAG, that’s printed on it… that is what I really like…

Hello there yourself, college-mate. :D I’ll add you up on my blogroll too – on my next update.

The shoe looks…okay. Hehe, I’m not a fan of the color yellow and white, mainly because I’m messy. And I think the colors would look great if they remain to be used on only the flag.

And true, better wait for a local version if you really want one. But I wouldn’t want to wear something that resembles the Philippine flag anywhere on my body – feet or not. Shoe-shop na lang tayo sa Marikina, hehe. :p

  11. Rob says:

too much on it. they should’ve lessen the red area and concentrated on the blue or white colors.

its not fashion material. more like an independence day memorabilia.

    :)

  26. Jhon-jhon says:

I’ve seen this 2 years ago and from where i searched this is Nike’s tribute to our National Hero Mr. Jose P. Rizal and it’s a limited issue only, 500 pcs for USD for a pair.

  27. NIkeHead says:

its a collectors piece. if your a true shoe head, you would get these. and a shoe head i am lol.

  28. I HATE HATERS says:

Geez alot of haters, but i wont hate. Kanya kanyang trip lang yan and taste. Yes it may seem that you are patriotic in rocking these or disrespectful of the flag since you use shoes on the feet touching the ground but it really boils down to whether you like it or not. Plain or simple.

Well i would say i like it but would never wear it as i only display them… All 8 pairs of them. Hahaha!
