Dangwa flower market

While browsing through my past blog entries on Undas, I noticed that I wasn’t able to post anything about it on 2004. That was the year we spent the Undas holidays with a vacation in Hong Kong and Beijing, China which was why we went to the cemeteries days before November 1.

These pictures were taken at Dangwa flower market in Sampaloc, Manila on October 29, 2004. I wonder if it still looks the same today. I haven’t been there since then.

Dangwa is Manila’s most-known fresh flower market. According to Wikipedia, the place takes its name from the bus station within the area. This is where fresh flowers from northern Luzon are brought (binabagsak). Obviously, flowers sold here are much cheaper and fresher than those sold in malls.

oh, we go there every holy week to buy flowers… you see we have this icon of Jesus that is included in the procession in our place.

during our last visit there, i did not notice some changes.

yeah, that’s how the flower market got its name!
