Tulakan pala ha

Perhaps I should get used to this. Since I’m an incoming college senior, soon enough, I will not look forward to summer for its days-stretch of lazy sunny afternoons. It will no longer be equal to free and leisure time. I just didn’t expect it to come this soon. Aside from my daily ten-hour internship in Makati, other commitments just keep piling up. Sometimes I just want to drop everything and fly off somewhere abroad (which will happen anyway in a few weeks).

Last Monday, I got at the Quezon Avenue station of the MRT at a quarter past seven, and wow, it was a riot. The entire platform and staircase was filled with people, with multiple and slow-moving lines stretching all the way down to EDSA. I was obviously surprised, since I was never a regular MRT commuter in the morning till now.

What made the commuting worse was that a number of trains had passed me on the platform without me being able to get on because other people just kept pushing and shoving ahead of me. By the time the tenth train came, I decided to lose all my respect for other people and began shoving everyone else near me to get on myself.

Monday, I was there seven-ish rin. EXAG.

Tuesday, I got in the same time and it was okay.

Wednesday, I got in a quarter hour earlier. All the pushing made me almost fall in between the train and the platform.

    Thursday, I’m still alive.

Maybe I should blog about this, but I just don’t feel like it.

its push and shove talaga. the north avenue station grabe. the stairs, people just push you up the stairs. you dont have to walk.

why’d you leave us kanina? hmp :(

  4. Kitams?

Hahaha.

But that’s gonna be a whole other kind of a RIOT. :-)

Welcome to DCSS (Daily Commuter Stress Syndrome) :) I am not quite sure if its better if you ride from first station, especially at 7 am. Going there (1st station) earlier would probably be better. The other option would be an FX ride.

  8. Jeric says:

I experienced one in LRT :)

  9. Arbet says:

    I second Juned’s suggestion.

I think the problem is with the MRT system itself, plus the Pinoy’s (innate?) characteristic of getting ahead. Now if only we could channel that characteristic into something more profitable to this country…..

It happened because most Filipinos just don’t have the discipline to line up and follow rules. In my eyes, sometimes these commuters look like animals already. Yes, I do ride the MRT and I loathe that I have to get quashed just to get to the door. It’s part of the commuter’s life but I hate it. I hate that we, Filipinos, have sunk so low.

  11. billycoy says:

when riding the LRT or MRT, one advice…

    GO WITH THE FLOW!

  12. jerick says:

Because of the MRT, I was encouraged to be competitive, to be selfish and to be unfair.

  14. eric says:

tip: get on at the north ave station, pero from the other side, the one right in front of trinoma. then tawid ka na lang papunta sa kabila. the line’s faster, and mas may chance kang makaupo. tulakan pa rin though, ganun tlga. ganyan kmi ni nen when we ride the mrt going to work. and of course, malaking tulong ang stored value ticket.

  18. Nivee says:

^_^ haha!
